This website is run by the Illegal Tobacco Team at Trading Standards South West and covers the 15 Local Authority areas stretching from Cornwall to Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Dorset, and everywhere in between.
Combatting the sale of Illegal Tobacco is a regional priority for our Trading Standards Services, who are dedicated to gathering as much information as possible about those who trade in it and will take enforcement action whenever we can. The wider community harm caused by illegal tobacco is not always immediately obvious, so we are also committed to engaging with local communities and educating people on the facts behind the illegal tobacco trade in the UK.
Information submitted via this website is sent directly to our Regional Intelligence Team, based in Bristol, who will grade it and enter it onto our secure Regional Intelligence Database. They will then send it to the appropriate Local Authority. Please be aware that Officers can only take action where information meets approved criteria – the more detailed the information is that you send us, the more likely it is that we can act upon it.
Trading Standards work with a number of partnership organisations, including HMRC, Local Police Constabularies, The Department of Health and Social Care, Public Health England and local Public Health Services. Many of our community engagement events are attended by healthcare professionals including Stop Smoking Service Advisors.
